Over the past few years, Smartphones and tablets have completely changed the way we live. People have started finding the solution of every problem on the mobile phones. Because of increase in the consumer demand and decline in the prices, the shipment of smartphones and tablets will further see the upward trend worldwide. As the number of new smartphone users is increasing, it is certain that the usage of mobile apps will also increase.

Flurry’s recent survey indicates that global app usage is increased by 58% in 2015. This growth rate is still considerable, but this growth rate has been steadily decreasing over the last couple of years. In the year 2014, an app usage grew by 76%, and in 2013, it grew by 103%. It’s advisable for the developers that instead of searching for new users, it’s better to re-engage their existing customers for increasing app demand. Try to get them back and increase their duration of time they spend on app.

Above figures from the Flurry clearly indicate that four categories grew faster than the average in 2015.

Personalization apps such as live wallpapers, emoji keyboard and others got the 332% of the growth rate and became the most popular among the users, while News & Magazine apps got the second highest position in the popularity by showing 135% of growth rate. Utilities and Productivity apps show the third highest growth, and it’s about 125 percent. Moreover, Lifestyle & Shopping apps grew 81 percent, which shows the trend of mobile shopping.

Additionally, People were more engaged with the Phablet apps as compared to other small smartphones. According to Flurry, growth in News and Magazine apps for phablets was 5.3x as compared to other gadgets. Moreover, Phablet became the most dominant device, as the time spent on phablets grew by 334 percent on yearly (YoY) basis.
